Title:
The Craft of Collaboration—Near and Far
Program:
The Craft of Collaboration—Near and Far
Presented by Katherine A. Lawrence
Today’s collaborative teams may include members who work closely together at a single location as well as members who are dispersed at geographically distant locations. This presentation synthesizes some of the common issues faced by collaborative groups in both situations. The presentation will review recent research that has examined how collocated collaborators encourage each other to contribute to their joint work, and other research that has studied the organizational issues associated with multidisciplinary, multi-institution collaboration projects.
Katherine Lawrence is an independent scholar, collaborating with individuals and groups as a researcher, writer, educator, and facilitator. Previously, she was a Research Fellow at the University of Michigan School of Information where she investigated the design and deployment of cyberinfrastructure to support collaboration among scientists and engineers. Prior to her PhD, she worked as a case writer at Harvard Business School, an educational technology developer, and a wildlife documentary production manager.
Please join us to learn ways that you can support and improve collaboration in your teams.
