Project managers have the challenging task of organizing, motivating, and managing groups of people without having direct supervisory authority. The work performed by the team members is critical to the project's success, yet sometimes individuals demonstrate sub-standard performance. How can a project manager promote improved performance, without falling into legal or policy traps?

Nancy Niemela, formerly a labor and employment attorney at Dykema Gossett, in house labor and employment counsel at Michigan Consolidated Gas Company and Detroit Edison, and currently Sr. Assistant City Attorney for the City of Ann Arbor, will provide savvy advice for project managers. Her philosophy is to handle personnel matters early to avoid later legal issues. Her presentation will provide practical advice for protecting yourself
